When people admire my hardwood flooring Denver residents or not, many are surprised when they hear that hardwood floors do not cost much more than a mid-grade carpet! It’s true: a sales clerk told me last week that wood is not in shortage right now, which is why hardwood flooring is so affordable.

Hardwood floors increase property value and are much easier to mend as opposed to tearing up an entire carpet and paying to get a new one put down. The best part is, as a Denver resident I have had my hardwood floor for years.

If you take care of your hardwood floors properly, they will last a lifetime. If people in the Denver vicinity are having trouble looking for flooring Denver hardwood professionals can assist you in your research.

Taking care of my hardwood floor is easy enough. From day to day I run a vacuum over the floor while it is on the “hard floor” setting. Putting the vacuum on hard floor setting ensures that it will not scratch the surface of the wood floor.

I know when I vacuum my carpet I have a lot of “Oh my Gosh! What is that!” moments as the vacuum sucks up a huge ball of dust or lint. But with my hardwood floor it’s so hard for the dust to collect anywhere without getting sucked up by the vacuum because it does not have anything to cling to. And, I have to admit that rolling the vacuum over the hard floor is a lot more pleasant than rolling it over the carpet.

Once a week I mop my hardwood flooring from Denver and it shines and sparkles. If you are mopping your wood floor Denver residents should be sure not to use a wet mop. The water could soak and permeate the wood and cause deformation. I have found that even a wet swiffer twice a week is easier than mopping and cleans just as well.

Finally, there is long term maintenance involved. There are two ways to maintain your wood floor. Denver flooring specialists recommend having somebody come to your house every two to four years to buff the floors, and then put a coat of finish on the hardwood. Or, sometimes people prefer to wait until their hardwood floor needs hardwood professionals to do a full sanding, which should be done every seven to nine years.

Whether it’s winter, the start of spring, or the idea of getting your body into swimsuit shape for the summer, you should really be following a healthy low-fat diet. Whatever your reasons are, we’re here to help with four activities you can kick-off to get started:

Watch your portion sizes. Typical serving sizes have grown larger over the years as advertisers trick us in to buying more and more. Closely inspect the FDA labels, nutrition info, and suggested serving sizes to gain an understanding of what exactly you are eating. It’s very easy to “over consume” and get yourself into dietary trouble. You should recognize when you’ve created more than a single serving, and that the fat and calorie numbers on the label apply to one portion, and not the entire package!  A reduced fat diet requires vigilance on your part.
Clear out your fridge and your cupboard: This is especially important following big, food-oriented holidays.  Cakes, cookies, chips and dips, and other unhealthy treats need to be thrown out, as they present an unneeded tempation. Also consider a general “sweep” of your kitchen, to find other unsavory diet busters that might tempt you in the future.  Remember, you are only tempted by the foods near at hand. It’s not easy to pig out on a container of ice cream that isn’t there for the taking.
Make smart substitutions: Cookies, for example, can be swapped out for Fig Newtons.  Still delicious, but not nearly as bad for you, and there “right there” when the cravings hit.  Rice cakes or popcorn cakes are a great substitute for fatty potato chips, as they satisfy the salty and crunchy “hit” you were looking for.
However, do be realistic.  Since weight loss is your primary goal, try not to set yourself up for a huge disappointment. Create a positive experience by starting off with small, but, achievable goals. Weight loss that is sustained over the long term can be achieved by losing 1-3 pounds each week. Should you choose to go the drastic path, say on a crash diet, your body will fight back!  Your overall metabolism will become sluggish, and it will become almost impossible to lose the weight.
